Instant Pot Hard Boiled Eggs
Perfection Every Time
How many times have you made hard boiled eggs, only to have the peels stick or over cook them so you have a dark grey ring around the yolk? I’m a big fan of the Instant Pot as you know for braising meats that normally require hours of slow cooking to achieve that buttery goodness that (usually) only comes from cooking slow and low. However, not only is the appliance great for braising, it’s perfect for achieving perfectly cooked, hard boiled eggs.

Ingredients:
- 6 - 8 eggs
Instructions:
- Place the wire rack that came with your IP in the pot. Gently lay your eggs on the top of the rack, you can put as many as will fit in a single row.
- Add 1 cup of water in the bottom of the pot. Place lid on the pot and turn the steam valve to the closed position.
- Set a timer to 5 minutes (either manual mode to any mode and change the time to 5 minutes).
- Walk away
- When you hear the beep of the timer going off, set your own timer for 5 minutes. Meanwhile, prepare an ice bath. Or alternatively, prepare a bowl of ice and water that you can pour over the eggs when they are done cooking. This will stop the cooking process and rapidly cool down the eggs.
- When the second timer goes off, place the eggs in the ice bath for about 5 minutes, or until cool.
- Store in your refrigerator or peel and then enjoy.
- Note: if you prefer runnier yolks, you can cut the post-cook time down to 2-3 minutes.
